101.  I am the Snarknado of the Iowa political blogosphere.

100.  New York City Mayor Michael Bloomingidiotberg’s ban on sugary drinks like big gulps was struck down by an appeals court on the grounds that it was an unconstitutional over-reach by a city government.  Jolt Cola anyone?

99.  I love Kate Middleton, but I didn’t exactly go crazy over the birth of the new Prince Albert George.

98.  I don’t know what all the fuss is about Prince George.  He’s a baby that from womb to tomb will live solely off the back of British taxpayers.  We have millions of those in America and they all vote Democrat.

97.  Iowa Senator Bob Dvorsky announced his endorsement of Tyler Olson for governor.  This comes as no real shock given that his wife, Suddenly Susan already made her endorsement of Olson.  The real question on my mind is will he be allowed to drive the Olson campainmobile?

96.  <– Tried and true Mormon 69 joke.  And no, it is not catching on in the red rooms of pain.

95.  So Kevin McCarthy has used his position as Minority Leader in the Iowa House to land him a better government job.  We won’t be seeing AG Matt Whitaker any time soon, so a gig working for Tom Miller is a nice over-paid landing spot.

94.  Whatever happened to Don McDowell?

93.  I predict Staci Appel does only moderately worse than Leonard Boswell against Congressman Tom Latham because well, voters are dumb and will still give her some votes simply because the Des Moines Register told them to.

92.  It looks like former Secretary of State and Obama fan club member, Colin Powell is sleeping on the couch these days after his emails were hacked.  Apparently he got a little too friendly with a Romanian diplomat.

91.  New Jersey Governor Chris Christie and Kentucky Paulbot, Rand Paul, are in a public pissing match over government spending.  This is a manufactured cock fight by two guys who will never ever, like Taylor Swift, ever be getting my vote for president.

90.  <– The speed Governor Branstad and Lt. Governor Reynolds’ trooper driver was going on I-35 AND the number of more days we are likely to be talking about. branstadonboard

89.  The Pope has come out and asked who is he to judge those who are gay.  Good for him.  Now lose the gay hat.

88.  Eliot Spitzer-Swallows is running for Comptroller in New York and is refusing to answer questions about an extra-marital affair.  I’m tired of NY Dems and their sex scandals.  Ok, not really but that doesn’t make me a pervert.  It means I enjoy the plight of the lesser major political party.

87.  Rekha Basu keeps bagging on Steve King for his stances on immigration among others.  Maybe King is right and it is the Red Star that is out of touch?  Perhaps that is why he keeps winning and the paper is laying people off left and right.  Mostly left.

86.  Speaking of out of touch.  I thought State Senator, Rob Hogg was taking a hard look at a run for Terrace Hill.  Remember him?   Ok, ok.  This was just a thinly veiled attempt by yours truly to make a snarky Proclaimers reference to Hogg.  So here goes:

85.  From the Democrat candidate who keeps on giving my material, Anthony Weiner was just endorsed for NYC Mayor by none other than 2010 candidate of the “Rent is Too Damn High” party, Jimmy McMillan.  Naturally, the endorsement came via Twitter.  I can’t make this stuff up.

84.  82910016

83.  Anthony Weiner has electile dysfunction.

82.  I sure hope a few liberals ventured out to their local monument to consumerism during Iowa’s sales tax free weekend.  Malls and Wal Marts, Targets etc. were all bursting at the seams with consumers stimulating the state’s economy.  Imagine if those same liberals realized what kind of economic stimulus would ensue with a tax free week, month, and year or dare I say permanently?  Clearly, what they are doing doesn’t work.

81.  <– Hossa

80.  Speaking of the sham RPI, does anyone else besides me wish they would get serious about electing Republicans and knock off the war against traffic safety cameras and for the legalization of fireworks?  Hell, even Steve Bierfeldt’s Harry Potter parties are a better use of their time.  Steve1

79.  AFSCME endorsed Staci Appel over Rep. Tom Latham in Iowa’s 3rd CD.  Atta boy, Tom.  Keep up the good work!

78.  Jill Latham is said to be working for Pete Dupont Mark Jacobs in his longshot and self funded campaign for U.S. Senate.  Does that mean Nick Ryan will be running a Super PAC for Jacobs too?  Here we go again.

77.  Speaking of Rick Santorum’s people, ultra attention whore, Bob Vander Plaats who takes credit for anybody’s election wins but not his own election loses recently let it be known that he wasn’t that big of a Santorum supporter as he only got on board in the last month or so of the 2012 Iowa Caucus.  Why?  I’ll tell you.  BVP cannot supplant Steve Scheffler as Iowa’s premiere political Judas shakedown artist if he aligns himself with a single candidate so early before 2016.minions

76.  Looks like troubled lobbyist, Craig Schoenfeld is working for Matt Whitaker’s campaign to help lead his handful of minions.  Learn from your Newt days and get paid up front.  I’m not saying, I’m just saying.

75.  BREAKING:  Multiple sources have confirmed that Matt Whitaker used to play football for the Iowa Hawkeyes.  Why hasn’t he mentioned this?  What else is he hiding?

74.  Word amongst the ever-leaking Branstad team brain trust (my best sources!) is that they have cooled to the idea of Iowa Labor Commissioner, Michael Mauro seeking his old job as Secretary of State.  As much as they would like to stick it to the guy far more popular with the grassroots (Schultz) than The ‘Stache, Mauro is not going to beat Brad Anderson who has already locked up every single endorsement imaginable in Democrat circles.  I think (although I can’t confirm it) that JFK is contemplating an endorsement of Anderson as well.  Branstad needs a strong ticket and Schultz helps him a lot with younger voters.

73.  Speaking of The ‘Stache, I mean with all due respect and sincerity that he needs to ditch the coy “should I decide to run for re-election” lingo.  Come on.  The communications team in your office has already laid enough eggs to be the Easter Bunny of Iowa politics.  Unforced errors I believe they are called.  So please stop letting non-stories eclipse the coverage of your great job governing our state.

72.   Okay, I must be butter because I’m on a roll with The ‘Stache here.  So I can tell you all to expect an announcement after the first of the year by Iowa Public Health Department head, Marianette Miller-Meeks will in fact make a third attempt to unseat Rep. Dave Loebsack in Iowa’s 2nd CD.  This comes with the full blessings of the Governor and I think it is a win-win for both of them.  She wants to be in Congress and he needs a competitive candidate in a district that comprises 25% of the state.  If State Representative Lofgren gets smoked by Loebsack, it could make for a long night in November for a lot Republicans on the statewide ticket.  If this sounds like I’m giving props to all involved in this move it is because I am.  Well done and I salute you with a gratuitous hair-flip!

71.   It will be hard to believe anything in this video Tyler “Frodo” Olson’s campaign for Governor released given his actual record of serving in the Iowa Legislature.  He was the loyal surrogate for Governor Culver’s train wreck policies than have been fixed by Governor Branstad.  Iowan’s have great memories and I’ll be sure to do my part to remind them.  And I saw no mention of the Shire in that video.  WTH?  At least he didn’t claim Van Meter as his home.wilfred

70.  Rep. Olson should be glad I make Frodo references because it could be a lot worse.

69.  <– Still on my list and “unlikely” to get crossed off of it.

68.  The Republican Party of Iowa is a sham.  So who does the fundraising letter in support of RPI by Senator Grassley discredit the most?  Grassley or his own Remy Danton, David Young?  I say both.

67.  I have to give props to NY Senator, Charles Schumer for his non-stop fight against Vladimir Putin.  I would expect such talk from Rep. Steve King or even Rep. Peter King, but damn.  Note to David Young: Schumer is Jewish.  Keep it on the down low.

66.  Pardon me, but I’m about to go on a rand rant here.  The junior Senator from Kentucky, Rand Paul recently stated that the old guard has been losing elections in the GOP and they need to make way for Libertarians.  No Senator, we have been losing because you and your Dad’s Paulbots have been undermining the GOP for at least 8 years now.  Holding your own counter-conventions to protest the GOP on the largest stage and your guy never endorsing the GOP nominee are only the tip of the iceberg.  I can go on and on about the Paulbots taking over state parties or their GOP national convention floor shenanigans etc. etc. etc.

65.  “The bottom is we’re not broke, there’s plenty of money.  It’s just the government just doesn’t have it.” – Congressman Keith Ellison (MN).  Quick, somebody tell David Young before he publicly offers to introduce the Muslim legislator to Jesus Christ.

64.  <– The number of people who listen to Steve Deace thanks to Simon Conway.

63.  If President Obama was uncomfortable with being followed while walking in a department store as a youth, why then is he ok with all U.S. citizens being followed by the NSA?

62.  Gun control update: The Chicago Sun-Times has a great way via social media to keep track of the homicides in their bustling community called, “Homicide Watch Chicago.”  The latest homicide as of now (1:44pm Sunday) is a young man 32 years of age shot dead less than a block from a police station on South Michigan Avenue.  Yep, I’m sure the Chicago gun control model will work great nation-wide!  *sarcasm

61.   The IDP’s useful idiots known as the Des Moines Register have run an opinion piece by their soon to be endorsed candidate for Secretary of State, Brad Anderson.  I didn’t get through the opening paragraph before he pissed me off.  He talks about how he ponders what specifically unique inconveniences people on Election Day must be experiencing.  Whoa, pull the bus over Moonbeam!  As a veteran of the United States Air Force who served in combat I can assure you that putting my life in harm’s way to protect our righmclovin-idt to vote was not an “inconvenience” so I sure as shinola don’t consider taking a day off or waiting for your daughter to find her shoes an inconvenience to your voting effort.  Hell, union thugs don’t even have to take the day off because they get the day off to work for Democrat candidates and efforts.  With that said, photo ID is supported by over 70% of Iowans and even the Red Star for a reason.   Good luck trying to convince people fraud is no big deal given the criminal records of your fellow Obama campaign staffers for stealing identities and election fraud.

60.  Democrat Majortiy Leader of the Iowa Senate, Mike Gronstal declared that he would not be a candidate for Governor in 2014.  This does not come as any shock to me.  I’m not going to run for Governor in the Democratic primary either, but I’d thought I’d announce it since you already knew but I hadn’t said so, much like what Gronstal did.  Gronstal has been in the Iowa Senate since 1985 back when Delorean’s were still cool.  Why would he give up his job just to lose to Branstad?  I’m reminded of Gronstal’s lack of a public sector career every time I hear the Dems claim Branstad’s longevity is a strong reason for change.  I thdeloreanink Branstad has been Governor too long, but I can’t argue with the results his polities have had and neither can you.

59.  We know everybody is running for U.S. Senate largely to get attention, but it seems some want attention for speculation on other offices.  Iowa State Treasurer, no really, we have one, it’s a real office, Mike Fitzgerald keeps floating his own aspirations to be Governor.  Fitzgerald who couldn’t be picked out or a 5 person crowd has been on the ballot forever, but he has been virtually invisible except when embroiled in scandal.  There is no chance of a Fitzgerald for Governor campaign.  This is a cheap way to get his name in the press when he has no other way sans a self inflicted scandal to get news coverage.

58.  Still no word from either the Speaker Kraig Paulsen or former Cedar Rapids Mayor Paul Pate camps on a bid for Congress in the 1st CD and frankly I’m starting to get annoyed.  Both could run the table in that race if they just got in.  I’m starting to doubt that that either of them will get in.  Hello Congresswoman Dandekar.

57.  Doug Struyk left Speaker Paulsen’s office a few weeks ago to lobby for the clients of Carney & Appleby, PLC.  Look for the universally liked Struyk to quickly become the most effective mover and shaker in the rotunda.

56.  Who the hell is Scott Schaben?

55.  Who the hell is Paul Lunde?

54.  How the hell does somebody that even I don’t know run for U.S. Senate?  Hold on, I’m going to ask Siri about those two.  She said she has no idea and reminded me to tell David Young that Chuck Schumer is Jewish.  I told her that I think he knows now.  Or at least I hope.

53.  State Senator, Joni Ernst is in the race for U.S. Senate as is everyone else.  I have to give her the edge at this point given that she has actually been elected before albeit to fill the seat vacated by Lt. Governor Reynolds.  I also like her background in the National Guard, but I’m worried about her ability to raise money, her lack of name ID and not having run for a major office before.  It may be too soon for Ernst to make this jump.  Time will tell.

52.  I had a liberal friend tell me the other day that they love paying more taxes for school even though they don’t have any kids because they don’t want to live in a world with stupid people.  My response:  If more people like you don’t have kids, you won’t have to.

51.  And then I offered my liberal friend some aloe vera because they just got BURNED!

50.  <– David Kochel’s Golden Birthday

49.  What if the Pottawattomie County Auditor refused to hold an election in Sen. Mike Gronstal’s race for re-election the way he refused to allow issues to be voted on in the Iowa Senate?

48.  Congratulations to Tim and Josie Albrecht on the birth of their son, Davis Wyatt.

47.  Casino lobbyist, Matt Whitaker is rumored to be contemplating a drop out of the GOP primary for U.S. Senate and taking a crack at the equally futile goal of replacing Iowa Attorney General Tom Miller.

46.  NYC Mayor candidate, Anthony Weiner can claim to have created at least one job to boost the economy.  One of his sexting pals, “Sydney Leathers” is in negotiation with Vivid Entertainment CEO, Steven Hirsch to do porn.  If that isn’t the American dream, I don’t know what it.

45.  The war on women in the Iowa Senate continues.  No, this isn’t about Ed Failure, Jr.  I’m talking about Democrat Sen. Herman Quirmbach’s antics directed at Sen. Amy PH0hT8306nRn28_1_mSinclair.  Quirmbach was obviously taken to the woodshed by Democrat Leader, Mike Gronstal for his embarrassing and unbecoming behavior towards a Senate colleague and certainly not the way a gentleman speaks to a lady.  Quirmbach was forced to issue an apology, no doubt by Gronstal who is not a bad guy.  In fact Gronstal may be a liberal who harms Iowans with his public policies, but he is a gentleman.  Quirmbach, not so much.

44.  Congressman Justin Amash of Michigan was on Fox News Sunday this week.  I was beginning to think he might be a Big Liberty quack before the show and now I know it is actually much worse than that.  His attempts to defend the Big Liberty paranoia about everything the government does looked silly.  He came across as a David Koresh-like figure defending his beliefs and acting like everyone else’s were not in line with his version of the Constitution.  Libertarians have some really good ideas, but they take it too far.

43.  <– Miss him yet?

42.  <– Remember way back when this guy was the gold standard of political sex scandals?  My times have changed.

41.  <– Recently President George H.W. Bush shaved his head in support of the daughter of one of his Secret Service members who was battling cancer.  It is refreshinbushshavesg to see such values and compassion in one of our nation’s leaders.  We need more of this.

40.  <– We all miss the Gipper.

39.  <– Remember when we thought Jimmy Carter was going to be the worst president in our lifetime?

38.  Edward Snowden is NOT a whistleblower.  He is a traitor to his country and a fugitive from justice.  Do you hear me Big Liberty?  (Big Liberty is a copy written term by Kevin Hall.  All rights reserved)

37.  Why are the folks who passed Obamacare into law without reading the bill first, the first to exempt them from it after reading it?

36.  Look for Ohio Governor John “K2K” Kasich to be re-elected next fall and then use that as a springboard to run for President.  So make that John “K12”:

35.  USA Today reports that since 2009, dead donors gave over $600k to campaigns.  I’m now waited for a statement from Brad Anderson on how disenfranchising the deceased from donating to the campaigns of their supposed choice would be a partisan solution in search of a problem by the GOP.

34.  Reportedly, Democrat and San Diego Mayor, Bob Filner is set to embark on 2 weeks of intensive “sex therapy.”  I signed up for that once, but it wasn’t what I thought it was going to be.

33.  Senator John McCain on the passing of Iowa’s most decorated war hero, Colonel Bud Day, a MUST watch.

32.  Vice President, Joe Biden is scheduling trips to New Hampshire.  That’s all.  Laugh amongst yourselves.

31.  <– Given the current crop of candidates vying for the GOP nomination in the race to fill Harkin’s seat, I give the field a spread of 4 to 1 to succeed.

30.  I’m told it will be a free for all in both caucuses as battles for leadership begin to take shape with the departure of McCarthy and the likely vacancy the possible vacancy in Speaker’s chair.

29.  Has anybody endorsed Sen. Jack Hatch for Governor?  How about Rep. Wayne Ford?

28.  Anybody else want to move the filing deadline for candidates up?  This is really starting to piss me off.

27.  I will be doing a breakdown in the weeks ahead via a points-based system in the various primaries so that we can keep track of who is legit and who is just a Big Liberty stooge.

26.  <– The number of times David Young mentions Chuck Grassley in a speech where he tells you that he is his own man.

25.  I can’t wait till the IRS audits me again and I get to tell them that any discrepancies in my filing are just a phony scandal.

24.  <– Jack is BACK!  Soon.

23.  <– Jordan was a great basketball player, but is a lousy businessman.  Stay in school kids.

22.  Iowa State will wear the throwback uniforms the likes that Jack Trice wore for them when they host the Iowa Hawkeyes this year.  The first black player to play for the Cyclones was killed by injuries suffered in a game at the hands of whites opposing team players.  No word on if Sen. Jack Hatch will attend the game.buddy

21.  A Jew, a Muslim and a Catholic walk into a bar.  I forget the rest of the joke, but I’m sure David Young introduces them all to Jesus.

20.  I recently got an email from a reader saying that I was the John Deeth (Under, The Red Beret) of GOP blogging in Iowa.  Um, no.  I am not a Republican blogger.  I’m a conservative blogger who spares no one from my snark.  Ask the Governor.  And I actually like the Governor.

19.  State Representative Ana Kournakova Anesa Kajtazovic recently flubbed a Keystone Pipeline question while on her “listening tour” in the 1st CD.  “I don’t know” is a good answer when you don’t know, but not when you should know because you want to be in Congress.  If I was Sen. Quirmbach, I might suggest you try tennis instead.  Anna-Kournikova-gallery

18.  <– The legal voting age in America.  Why does Brad Anderson support disenfranchising our teenage youths when they want to vote for Obama?

17.  Speaking of Mr. Anderson, he’s raising a lot of money and good for him.  I might offer one suggestion though.  You can have all the money in the world, but if you are a partisan political hack and a terrible candidate, you don’t stand a chance.  Ask Attorney General, Brenna Findley or State Auditor, Jon Murphy.

16.  I can sleep well knowing that Susan Rice is now the National Security Advisor.  Our secrets are safe in her hands.  She never tells the public the truth about anything.

15.  Ashley Spiker is trending on Twitter.  #AshleySpiker

14.  <– Sam Clovis, candidate #3 of 100 in the Iowa GOP primary for U.S. Senate only raised 14k (I’m REALLY rounding up here) in for his first FEC filing period.  Ouch.  That money will get him less name ID than being the 14th Random Political thought by the Snarknado, me.

13.  Hey it’s never too early to start thinking about bumper stickers for 2016.  weinerholder

12.  The Paulbots really don’t like me.  I found all of my as yet unpicked strawberries in the Capitol Gardens individually wrapped in tin foil.  Well played.

11.  <– Most bloggers can only get their snark on to about level 10, but I can go all the way to 11.

10.  Several U.S. Embassies were shut down following chatter from suspected terrorist groups in North Africa, Europe and the Middle East.  As well they should have been.  This begs the question, what was different in Benghazi?

9.  Federal office should NOT be the first elected office you seek.  Would you hire someone for their first job out of college to be CEO of Hy Vee or Casey’s?

8.  Thank you Senator Grassley for your distinguished career in the Senate, but it will be long past time to hang it up in 2016.tracyflick

7.  Steve King finally did something that even I think is crazy.  He made Tracie “Flick” Gibler his Chief of Staff.

6.  I woke up this morning and as far as I can tell, the sky is not falling.  That was what we were told would happen by the Dems when Governor Branstad appointed Mary Mosiman as State Auditor.  She has done a superb job and The ‘Stache made a great choice.

5.  <– Too many kids to have.  Trust me.

4.   On the stump I like Sam Clovis the best in the Senate primary so far, I just wish he had run for a lower office first.  I hope he considers it if things don’t work out for him this time.

3.  I’m hearing rumors that a “Cedar Rapids Mayor” may step into the senate primary on the GOP side.  Ron Corbett is on the ballot this year, but would have enough time to mount a serious campaign if he can make the case to voters that he was called to serve just months after getting re-elected Mayor.  As the former Speaker of the House he has a statewide network of donors to build upon if needed.  So there may be hope for the GOP yet.

2.  My good friend Craig Robinson over at TIR is complaining about writing a story over 3,500 words long.  Hey, welcome to my world!

1.  This will be my last post for a while.  I have decided to “spend more time with my family” I believe is the most commonly used smokescreen explanation.
